In the last two months and the last eleven days since Ive graduated...

Another two months since Ive written on this blog; however, I have been noticing some of my other friends who don't blog as much they use too. So basically I don't feels as bad. Although I do want to write more. So what's been going on? well the last two months have been crazy coming out of horrible and depressing winter and finally arriving into a full swing spring/summer. Secondly, I had been looking for a car almost coming to a point where I didn't believe that I wouldn't get a car for a long time. However, I was able to find a car!!! ( More details and photos to come soon I hope) But the car I have now is a 2001 Olds Alero. I really do like the car, although it sucks having a V6 engine with gas prices being so high!

Thirdly, and one of the most important things that has occurred in the last ten days was that I, Ryland Lundy graduated from NTS with a masters in Christian Ed. Did it in two years at NTS and one year previously at ONU. A grand total of 3 years. So now I'm moving into this new phase of life and I don't know exactly what to call it yet? Maybe it could be "oh know Ive graduated with a masters and don't know what heck I'm going to do phase?" This might be best thing to call it.

But anyway, I'm still trying to grasp that I'm indeed graduated with a masters and finding out what I like to do and what I should be doing. I 'm hoping to have a position that allows me to work with twenty-to- thirty somethings of adults and working along side the local community and the local church. However, I do know that finding a position with doing one of the other or even both are hard to find. But that it what I want to do now.
But I do have questions about if I don't find something like that. Do I just settle for "any" position that comes along my way? Secondly, how long should I wait for the position that I want? Thirdly, how important is it find a place that I can agree with theologically and practically? Am I just suppose to suffer and deal with whatever comes? Theses questions are ones that I have been thinking for a while and haven't come to a complete and coherent decision yet

Three months into 2008 already?!

The first three months of 2008 seems to be rather long and at times quite lethargic. Maybe thats more with the constant cold weather here? Anyway, yeah I know no recent post in almost two months. I guess I just haven't that much to say. But I do have a a couple things to update you on though. So here I go with my life...

1. Still don't have a newer car yet. Although I do have better chances of getting car now with someone to back me financially now. So praise God for that! I really need one. The last time my car was functional to the point of driving was in late November!!

2. School- It been pretty good so far. For one I think the long seven week break between the fall and spring semester was great! Especially having some vacation time in Raleigh/Durham, NC area. I was able to see my Duke Blue Devils play against UVA. I will post about that experience soon too!

3. Church- Church has been good as usual. Yesterday I was reminded again of the uniqueness and humility of the church I attend again. It is indeed a group of people who are committed Triune God.

4. Graduation Plans?? I don't know yet? I do know some of the things I would love to be involved with: Young Adults, Connecting the community to the local church and vice versa, High School students and maybe para-church? Those are the areas of ministry that I do see myself serving and giving to.

5. NBA/College Basketball- If you don't know me, then you don't know me well enough that I love March-June period! Not exactly because that spring comes, which is needed. But the fact march madness will be happening very soon! ( NCAA Men's BBall Tournament) Its great period where peoples dreams come or either get broken. Teams who have no business being in the tourney do remarkable run in the tourney that no ones expects. Its those moments that I dearly loved and pray for!! More importantly I hope to see my Duke Blue Devils hoist the Natl Championship!!

Ok I think thats it for now. I just need to set time to write more on this blog. I hope I will blog at least more this month!

Yeah, I know its too long and does anyone still read this??

Well thank God its 2008!! I'm glad its here and everyone can start fresh. I know ive said it numerous times on this blog that I would blog more, but its just didn't happen this past year as I wanted too! I know in 2006 was great year. Maybe I'm only to do blog consistently in the even years?/ Well I will try to do a lot better then the previous year. Maybe I should focus on more detailed topics??What do you think? Well I hope to make some changes to blog. I think I'm getting tired of the white background? Oh well

Glavine is back as a Brave!!

Yeah, I'm still drowning in class work, but thanksgiving will be coming up soon though!!

But more important news today is that Tom Glavine is back as an Atlanta Brave!! I think Atlanta just needs one more solid starting pitcher and will be set to not only get back in to the playoffs but also make a play for the World Series!! oK I gotta go back to reading now... More postings to come.... I hope!

Cracked sentences being reduce...

I just finish reading an article from the Washington Post regarding that the U.S. Sentencing Commission is seriously considering reducing sentencing for those who commit crimes of having cracked cocaine. A majority of people who use crack are often found in the black community. More specifically poor black males. Not only would they reduce for those in the future but make it retroactive for all of those who where caught with it.

I personally think this long overdue especially among the black community where have seen high spike in young black males being sentence to jail over last 10yrs. Now do I condone the action no I don't. But I do believe in fair and comprehensive sentencing for all people. one race like Caucasians should not get lighter sentences then other races. But with the new possibilities of sentencing can there time and space for more rehabilitation and reconciliation?

October came and now its almost gone...

Man the times have certainly flown by for me and seemingly for everyone else who Ive talked too! I need to get back to posting more. But so far this is what's been going on for me....

-School is starting to get busier! With more projects and papers these next couple months could seriously be brutal! Luckily at nts we are having a reading and research week, in which there are no classes so that students and faculty can all "catch up" or even better "get ahead"

-I'm still looking for car!! I need one badly. I'm now considering get el cheapo car.. which I don't want to do because I feel like I will be wasting more and more cash that way. However, I'm not getting approve for pre-financing either! So what's a guy to do? If anyone has any solid and good ideas please let me know!

-Last weekend I had the opportunity to go with my church to a fall retreat in Atchison,KS It was wonderful two day trip to be there with the Benedictine sisters! I think everyone should at least schedule some time of "pilgrimage" to get away from the things that are routine and re-think, re-imagine and rest in the arms of God.

-Speaking of pilgrimage. A class I took as a module( a 2wk intensive course) I have to write a personal pilgrimage plan for over a year! I'm excited about writing this paper! This will give me a great chance to dream about what kind journey I want to embark upon, but also allowing God to move me anywhere I might go in this life. I hope to give more details eventually.

-Sports has gotten crazy!! Patriots and Colts still undefeated.... Joe Torre finally quits the Yankees after he got a crappy deal... Kobe trade rumors are in high great, but I still think he will not be treaded yet.

Ok thats it for now. Hopefully I will post more soon!
